Friday in the garden

Texas Star

The Texas star did not bloom as well as it has in the past only a few blooms this year, not sure why, maybe to much rain early in the year or not enough.

Hi Sue You commented on my Joanne's Cottage garden blog and asked about planting roses in a cardboard box. I only do this if I want to plant a rose where one has grown before. For some reason the soil where a rose has been causes a new rose planted in the same place to die. So by planting in a largeish cardboard box surrounded with fresh soil enables the rose to establish and as the box rots in time the old soil doesn't become a problem.

Hope that helps.
