Show @ Tell Friday

I love GS and re-sale shops and buying vintage silver, it adds interest to use different patterns in a tablescape.
Saturday morning on my way home from a 12 hour shift at the hospital, I saw a GS sign, so I stopped and purchased 12 pcs of silver for a dollar, my bargain for the month, I believe this is a 40's or 50's pattern.

It really does not matter what year the pattern is, I like it and believe the silver will clean-up and away it will go to a mix-match tablescape.

I want TO THANK Cindy again for sponsoring Show and Tell Friday. Click the title it will take you TO Cindy's blog. THANKS CINDY.

I definitely have to agree with you and Martha Stewart...LOL....having an eclectic service set on a table makes for a much more 'fun' atmosphere.

What a great find! No matter the pattern, it's even more stylish to mix and match. I hope I can find a deal like that this weekend at a GS. Blessings.

How pretty, what a great idea to buy at garage sales and mix and match.

I, too, love old silver and you can find very interesting and cheap pieces all over the place. I've found Sterling Silver pieces mixed in the utencil bins at Thrift Stores for ten cents a piece! Love it! Thanks for your comment on my blog. I hope to hear from you again.

Bet you can guess how I'd use that silverware! ;o)

I also want to make windchimes out of some. I never pass up vintage flatware but it's getting harder & harder to find @ the thrift stores.

Pretty silver - thanks for sharing. I see so many pretty pieces out there, but the reason I don't get more is because I don't like to polish it. :)

What beautiful silver pieces! My husband brought a few silver pieces over from Russia when they moved here in the late 90's. Unfortunately my MIL wasn't used to the disposal in the sink and many of the teaspoons were banged up pretty good in there. I still love them though. Thanks for sharing! -April

Dropped by from Tom's. I have some collectable spoons wired to a piece of lumber hanging over our doorway in our dining room. Your white fall mums look like Sheffield Pinks Mums....nice blog.

Hi Sue,
I see you haven't posted for awhile. I'm in the process of cleaning things up from my computer because I have too much memory used up. I found an email from you from October, where you said you were starting a new flower bed, and wondered how I laid mine out. I don't remember if I answered you or not. I am not good at planning or sticking to plans. What I do, is put the plants around the bed that I'm going to plant, and then put them in. I sometimes have to leave room for putting other things in later, or for the plants to grow, then plant annuals to fill up the area. I also like to plant annuals that will come up from their own seeds the next year, such as cleomes, larkspur, bachelor buttons, and love in a mist. Moonflowers come up thickly, and need to be thinned, as do some of the others I mentioned. Moonflowers are poisonous, so be careful where you plant them.

If you get this, and comment back, I'll get it, as I am going to subscribe to the follow up comments. I am not keeping up with blogging right now, as we are in the process of getting our house ready for a kitchen remodel next month. I just took a break from it, and now need to get back to my sorting of toys and things in the basement so that we can move my husband's computer things from the room they are in so the shelf we won't need in the kitchen can go in there and have toys on them. Whew! We aren't handy enough to do any of the kitchen work, but getting ready for it is lots of work for me, because I have so much stuff.

I hope things are going well for you.

A dollar? Only a dollar? You hit the jack pot. I have a few odd pieces of silver and some have engraved initials on them. Often someone will assure me that I can have the initials taken off, and I do not think they understand that I appreciate that each piece has its own story.
Congrats on such a find!
