Pound Cake

Visiting a couple of thrift stores and antique shops this week I found a pound cake candle, Oh!!!!did I like the candle, but the candle was $30.00 plus tax which was over my budget. INSPIRATION ---- I can do this!!!!!!so I pick up a bundt cake pan from the thrift shop (did not want to use mine) for $3.00 and then headed for Michael's and purchased; wax that was 9.99, I had a coupon for 40% off on one regular priced item, wicks and scent.

This is how I made the candle: 1. DH drilled four holes in top of the pan. 2. spray the pan with span (just as if your baking a cake) insert wicks leaving an inch exposed from the top of the pan(really the bottom of the pan if cooking) and seal around the wick with play dough, this prevents the wax from leaking out around the wick. 3. Melt wax in a double boiler add pcs of crayon (brown) for color and scent. 4. Pour wax and wait. When cake candle has formed it's shape---flip cake pan and candle will come loose.

Things I would do different: Add more pcs of brown crayon--use more wax to have a thicker cake.

Too clever! I'm with you, I'd never pay that much for something I could make!
